Cherished Plates

At Alternative Route, we're happy to help you through the process of making your leased vehicle that extra bit special.

To aid this process, we ask that you read through the following points to prepare yourself for any required information that we or the finance company may ask for.

If you have a cherished number plate on a hire/lease vehicle you should consider commencing removal proceedings at least 6 weeks before the end of the contract date as DVLA are currently experiencing long delays in processing the transfers.

If the vehicle is on a contract hire or personal contract purchase funded by Lex, ALD or Leaseplan you will need to contact them to get the plate put onto retention at the end of the contract.

They will need to know who will become the registered keeper of the plate and whether a grantee is required on the retention certificate if you intend to put the plate onto a new vehicle on a hire/lease basis.

You will also need to send a cheque for £105 payable to DVLA to get the plate put onto retention.

Each of the above funders will charge an admin fee to process the request and you should contact your customer service advisor at Alternative Route for details of the current charges and further information regarding contact information and requirements of the funders.

Out of house funders such as Mercedes will need to be contacted directly for details regarding cherished plates.
